Andrea De Nardi

Valedictorian & Outstanding Graduate

Andrea is receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Management and is our most decorated graduate this year.  Not only did he earn Valedictorian status by virtue of his grades, but he was also selected as a co-recipient of the School of Engineering & Computer Science Outstanding Graduate Award, co-recipient of the Engineering Management Program Outstanding Graduate Award and designated as a Scholar-Athlete for being the Captain of our NCAA Division I Water Polo Team.  Andrea comes to Pacific from France and is trilingual in English, French and Italian.  He has been a member of the French Junior and Senior Water Polo Teams, a two time NCAA Elite 90 Awardee for having the highest GPA in the Final Four of the NCAA Championship. He has also coached for the Big Valley Water Polo team locally.

Beau Forest

Beau is receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Data Science, as well as his Master of Science degree in Engineering Science.  He is also a co-recipient of the Computer Science Department’s Academic Excellence Award and is recognized as a Scholar-Athlete for being a member of Pacific’s NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Team.  Beau also spends time volunteering as a tutor for Homework Help at the Lodi Public Library and as a golf coach with the First Tee of San Joaquin County. Upon graduation, he will begin his career as an Applications Software Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Aruba Networks in Roseville and pursue a career as a professional golfer.

Mark Fraser

Valedictorian

Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in the fall of 2019 with a minor in Applied Mathematics, as well as his Master of Science degree in Engineering Science.  Mark is also a co-recipient of the Computer Science Department’s Academic Excellence Award.  During his time at Pacific, he worked as a Software Development Engineering Intern within the Hewlett-Packard Enterprise/Aruba Software Development lab.  Mark was also awarded a prestigious Dreyfus Foundation Award from University of the Pacific for undergraduate research, and he was a member of Pacific’s NCAA Division I Men’s Baseball team.  He is currently working at Cisco Talos as a Software Engineer.

Emily Reynoso

Valedictorian

"Emily is completing her degree in only 3 years at Pacific because she completed over 90 units at local junior colleges as a high school student! Her academic potential is easily discerned from her transcript. In classes, her questions and answers are thoughtful and go beyond the material to advanced applications.  Emily personifies the Pacific mission of “whole student learning”.   She is a master organist and trains other choir members and organists at her church. Emily takes advantage of every opportunity to learn!  She has:

  • held internships at Caltrans in design and traffic management
  • Held an internship at the Pacific Physical Plant where she updated campus plans
  • completed her co-op at Siegfried Engineering in Stockton engaged in Civil Engineering design
  • Assisted with research on Geochemical and Geospatial Modeling of Oil Wells in Kern County, examining the effects of industrial effluent from oil extraction processes.
  • Served as Vice President for our ASCE student chapter where she identified, invited, and coordinated speakers for our chapter meetings, and to coordinate with the other officers so they can post flyers and arrange food for the meetings.
  • Wrote the Daniel W. Mead paper in 2019 and 2020 on topics of engineering ethics, which was submitted to ASCE (National) on March 1 on behalf of our ASCE chapter.  Her papers have focused on the ASCE Code of Ethics canons addressing diversity and inclusion (Canon 8) and the engineer’s responsibility to uphold and enhance the honor, integrity, and dignity of the engineering profession."

Kyle Poe

Outstanding Graduate

Kyle is an exceptional student pursuing a double major in Bioengineering and Applied Mathematics with a near-perfect academic record. In addition to his commitment to his academics, Kyle has also been involved in the Pacific community.  He served in leadership roles in the Beta Theta Pi fraternity as well as the Order of Omega Honor Society.  He was also a member of other student organizations including Tau Beta Pi, Phi Mu Epsilon, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

Leah Classen

Outstanding Graduate

"Leah embodies Pacific’s mission of responsible leadership. She never turns down an opportunity to learn or help.  She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a second major in Asian Language and Studies (Chinese). She has been accepted into the MS in Engineering Science (MSES) program and awarded a Hamma Scholarship for graduate study in Fall 2020.

I have been continually impressed by Leah’s leadership and her high expectations of others, and especially of herself.  She was a leader in the Society of Women Engineers, a participant on the SWE “Team Tech” project, and spent countless hours in Summer 2017 working on their project.  She was also one of two student leads for the SHPE Dia de Ciencias (Science Day) workshops for middle and high school children. Since Fall 2017, Leah has regularly attended ASCE chapter meetings and is always available to help.  In Spring 2018 when Pacific co-hosted the ASCE MidPacific conference, Leah was not the coordinator of any events, but she helped everywhere.  If we needed things moved, lunch served, traffic managed, or any problem solved, Leah was somewhere in front of the pack rallying the troops to get the job done or doing it herself.  She completed her Senior Project at the end of her third year (most students tackle this in their fourth year), and spent Fall 2018 on a study abroad in China.  She so impressed her team’s Senior Project Mentor (Matthew Ward, P.E.) that he hired her in Summer 2018 as an intern. She completed her co-op at Plant Construction, where she assisted in project management and coordinated sub-contractors on 3 projects in the Bay Area.

Leah also worked as an intern/helper in our CE Department in Summer 2018, helping us with critical documentation and lab upgrade projects in preparation for our ABET accreditation visit in Fall 2018. Because of Leah’s help, we were able to disassemble an entire lab for upgrades starting in June – and reassemble it in time for the start of the Fall term.

Leah was a member of the team that competed in the SEAOCC competition hosted by Sac State in 2019, made the presentation on her own, as the other team members are traveling for Spring Break – and led the team to first place in 2019!  She has held numerous officer positions in ASCE, including co-Historian and currently, as our co-coordinator for our MidPacific Student Conference teams.  In each position, she rallies the troops to get things done. Even while she was on study abroad in China and later on co-op, she continued to call into our officer meetings and helped others remotely."
